east coast nerve centers

By Robbie on March 17, 2010

This weekend I'll be playing in the Washington suburbs (Iota in Arlington, Thursday), Frederick MD (the estimable Frederick Film Festival, Friday), and Stone Ridge NY (the Arts Center, Saturday), all alongside my dear friend Jenny Scheinman. She and I will be doing what we did all last year in Brooklyn, alternating between her catalog and mine, and leavening with fiddle tunes and what the New Yorker aptly called "curveball covers." An action phrase, there.

Besides all that, we'll be returning as a duo to our old homedive, the Barbes of Park Slope, on Tuesday night (the 23rd). My last gig as a 46-year-old! It would be nice to see anyone who wants to see us.

Chilling Swedish tales to come, and much more....

    Welcome back, Robbie!
By the way...the website for Off Broadway here in St. Louis has you playing an early show on Thursday, April 15th. That's the night prior to your Memphis gig, so it seems feasible. It's not on the "Tour" page.

Is this date real, or a figment of someone's imgination? We hope to see ya there...

Maybe you can swing by the Senate for the Health Care Vote.

I curated the children's film program at the Frederick Film Festival, what great taste those folks have in country music and children's movies.

In tow I brought my Mom and Dad, Gav of course as well as my Mom's cousin and her husband and their son and daughter in-law. We've been trying to figure out how the whole 2nd cousin, 3rd cousin, 4th cousin once removed works but to keep things short, they all had a blast. Frederick is a great city, and this show served as an excellent start to the film festival as well giving me and Gav an opportunity to see our friends Walter and Mel and meet my 2nd cousin, 3rd cousin 4th cousin twice removed for the very first time. There were a lot of "firsts" this trip.

It was the first time seeing Jenny and I think she has a voice as sweet as blackberry jam. The room was great, sound was wonderful and food and beer all included in the ticket price, how can you beat it? I managed to record a few songs on the flip camera without talking in the background which is hard for me so I feel quite accomplished ;)

I was at the Arlington show, and loved it. Nice to see two people having such a good time playing.

A Scheinman and Fulks live recording would be pretty great.

    Thanks.
